It is with great sadness that we at Radio Recovery share with you the passing of our dear friend and ardent supporter of the show, Jack O.

Jack was by almost anyone’s standards a most remarkable man. At the same time, he was also an every-man around whom anyone could feel comfortable, and many did. Jack was relentless in his devotion to helping the still sick & suffering as well as his peers of the 12 Step fellowships. While he was far too humble to ever admit it, Jack was gifted with a level of charisma usually reserved only for Rock Stars. You couldn’t help but feel good being around him. If you had a problem, being around Jack made it seemed smaller. If you had a crisis of confidence, being around Jack you suddenly believed in yourself. It’s hard to explain in words, but if you knew him then you know what I’m talking about.

When not jumping out of a phone booth donning his red, 12 Step cape, Jack surrounded himself with his family and his children whom he loved very, very dearly. Jack was a fiercely devoted father and gradfather. As if all this didn’t take up all 24 hours in his day (did Jack ever sleep?), Jack was a successful business man and a pillar of community based benevolent organizations in the area in which he lived.

Clearly Jack’s giving of himself was only rivaled by the people who loved him. Jack lived his life, one day at a time, making the world around him a better place to be. His example was an infectious inspiration to countless many. It is in that where I find some solace that in spite of his passing way too soon; a most wonderful part of him will live on in each of us.
